Team SopraVentus Success with coach Simone Ricci

Sopraventus Team HP is an international team currently operating in the Optimist and Waszp classes.
The Optimist Team is led by Simone Ricci, one of the most sought-after Opti coaches in the world, with a remarkable collection of medals on his record, including the legendary Worlds Triplete (3x) by Marco Gradoni and a major contribution to the Gold Medal at the 2021 Worlds won by Weka from Thailand.
Among the World Champions who have developed under Simone’s full coaching are Rocco Wright from Ireland, ILCA 6 Youth World Champion 2022, and Alessandro Cirinei from Rome, double World Champion 2025 (Youth & Senior) in the ILCA Class, Olivia Castaldi in the Waszp Class, and many others.
Simone has recently become the Optimist Class Leader for North Sails, the largest sail company in the world.

The aim of Sopraventus Team for Optimist sailors is to train and race together as much as possible, understanding that sailors come from all over the world and have different schedules.
Team participation is flexible, taking into account personal and national commitments (such as regattas, national team training, school, exams, and so on).
Being part of one of the most successful teams of recent years is already a plus for any sailor — the goal is to feel part of a sailing family, and whenever possible, train and race together with strong, highly motivated sailors.

Trainings take place in key locations with great sailing conditions, often near major regattas for easier logistics.
In past years, we have trained at Lake Garda, Rome, Miami, Malta, Torrevieja, Valencia, and at Worlds and Europeans venues, always remaining flexible based on needs and opportunities.

Some notable results from our sailors in the last two years include:

  • Carl Birgersson (DEN) – Bronze Medal, WORLDS 2025
  • Margaux Nguyen Minh (HKG) – Bronze Medal Girls, WORLDS 2025
  • Erkut Budak (TUR) – Gold Medal, Torrevieja International Trophy 2025

Our sailors come from all over the world, building friendships that last a lifetime and pushing each other to reach the highest limits and levels of sailing.
Sopraventus Team sailors receive special attention in Atlantis Academy Clinics and have easier access to charters, updates, offers, material testing, and insider opportunities in the Opti market thanks to Simone’s network and connections.

In recent years, we have collaborated with other highly experienced and championship-winning coaches, such as World Champion Alejandro Bethencourt and 2x Olympian Ingrid Petit Jean.

Sailors in the team are selected and invited. The program is private and not shared online, making it an exclusive and healthy environment where sailors benefit from unique techniques and training methods that have set real records over the last decade.

Being part of the team is fully compatible with your Club or National Team programs, always respecting your coaches and your flag.

The team is always open to welcoming young sailors — the future of Optimist and of sailing.
